Our first Christmas with Abby was definitely not what we expected but very beautiful. Our pediatrician was not very happy with Abby's growth at her two week appointment and we were told that we weren't allowed to travel over the holidays. It was really hard for me at first but also really put things into perspective. Abby's health and safety are truly my first priority...although I was sad not to spend our normal Christmas and Christmas eve traveling to see my family and Chris' family I knew it was the best for our new little family. We were blessed to see my parents in Dallas and to celebrate a late Christmas with Chris' parents in Houston when we can finally travel. I was able to go to midnight mass for the first and probably the last time for a few years. Abby could sleep through it this year but I doubt we will be able to do it until all our kids are grown. We got to bring up the gifts with Courtney, Jake, and Chelsea...also Father Tom gave an amazing homily. They had a candle light service that was truly beautiful. Altogether a wonderful experience. We got to spend a lot of quality time with my family and I look forward to the time we will spend in Houston with the Conger's.

I also want to give a shout out to two women who have made amazing grandmas...Gigi Mechler and Mimi Conger. I was blessed to have my mom stay the week after Abby was born and help me recover from surgery. It was amazing having the house worked on so I had time to get to know Abby and learn all of her wonderful newborn ways. This week Chris' mom is with us while Chris is doing some travel. I'm finally at a point where I want to organize things and get our house back in order after the holidays...it's so nice having her here to help with Abby and the house while I get ready to conquer stay at home momhood all by myself next week. Abby has also really enjoyed getting to know both of her grandmas and mommy has enjoyed learning from the experience that they bring.

On another happy note...Abby had about 3 or 4 nights where she slept for 5-6 hours straight! The extra sleep has been amazing and I hope it continues :) She's such a great baby and has been so easy to take care of...Chris thinks that our next one will have to be crazy because Abby was so easy.
