So this 4th of July was much different than years past. One of my favorite things about Dallas (that I will truly miss) is Boom Town in Addison (really KaBoom town but this is a name that we have fondly called in for a few years). As the years have gone on and more babies have been making their appearance in the mix we've been getting to the park later and later. We used to be the first ones there by the stage and made an entire day of it vodka soaked watermelon and all! This year I knew we needed to go later with sweet Abby because of the heat but I wanted to much to enjoy the day with our friends. I was sure that 6pm in the evening would have cooled down enough for our daughter. I was wrong. Yes write that down, I'm admitting that not only on July 3, 2011 that I was wrong but also that my husband was right. I'm sure Chris is gloating in his seat now as he reads this :) Chris was such a good daddy through it all stripping our daughter down, cooling her off with cold wash cloths and feeding her. In my defense I did bring all of the wash cloths, cold water, and food...I'm not the world's worst mother but I do get to compete for this poor decision. We decided after a walk in the shaded park that the best thing for our little family would be going home early. We still had a blast with our friends but had to cut it short. We made it onto the tollway to catch the end of the show in a parking lot (while Abby slept happily in the air-conditioned car) and beat traffic! All in all it was a wonderful day and I will definitly miss Boom Town when we are in Tomball. But who knows maybe there will be a better show out there. Here are some cute pics of the day...
